This makes absolutely no sense at all. How can a 52 year old woman dub a 14/15-year old girl?!
Though her talent for voice acting is undoubtedly one of the best and most experienced, this is just too weird.

there any dubs u dont like? |
YuGiOh, One Piece [4Kids], etc. The newer dubs by FUNimation, ADV, and Geneon are excellent. But not when they have a strange accent. It just sounds weird then. Older animes like Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon and a few other ones were good for the most part, but translation was wrong and there was editing which is another problem with American-dubbed animes. The worst dub I've ever seen [with the exception of One Piece ] is probably Card Captor Sakura. They cut it in half with all the editing and some voices were.... bad.

that's a nice trivia ... but i got no bones to pick whether VAs are young or old ... as long as their voice suits the character and they are able to deliver believable lines ... I've watched some animes where the voice of the female lead character was too low or too husky and was so far off from the japanese VA ... it's just plain weird when watching it ... in this case, I'd rather watch the original japanese anime with english subtitles ...

Haruhi's Japanese VA was born in 1987. Her English VA was born in 1955. |
it's ok, as long as it's good, we saw haruhi, not that granny in the end...
but when it turns suck..
meh... they're trying their "best" right...
It's like here. almost all of dubbed anime are just "weird", and most of those weird dubbed anime are suck.
BELIEVE IT!!!

Dubs nowadays are great. I don't really understand why someone that doesn't like dubs would be here though. I mean why be here waiting for anime with a dubbed track when you could have gotten the fansub months (or years in some cases) ago.

This phenomenon is hardly limited to American voice actors. Megumi Hayashibara is going to play Lina Inverse (a 16-18 y/o girl) in the new "Slayers Revolution" series. Hayashibara was born in 1967, so she'll likely be 42 or so by the time the series starts production. Would you consider her too old to play Lina?

I have to agree -- I see people commenting on AniDB, "they included the English track, what a waste of space!", and I wonder why they didn't just stick with the fansubs in the first place.
